Ezekiel 44-45

As you read today’s reading reading KNOW that God NEVER changes. HIS Word NEVER changes!! HIS character never changes!! HIS truth NEVER changes. HIS Holiness NEVER changes. In Chapter 44:9 we are told: “This is what the Sovereign Lord says: No foreigner uncircumcised in heart and flesh is to enter my sanctuary, not even the foreigners who live among the you?” Yes we live on this side of the cross BUT this Word is STILL true today. HOW you ask? Unbelievers will not be allowed to enter THE TEMPLE of God.

This chapter continues about our approach to the Lord. And if you have been reading since the beginning of the blog you know we have read all this before in Exodus and Leviticus. So what does this really mean for us? Once Jesus came, God made it clear that Jesus did not come to do away with the law but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17.) In both the old and new testament we are told over and over to write God’s laws upon our hearts (Hebrews 8:10 and Jeremiah 31:33.) The law could NEVER SAVE us or get us into heaven. We are no longer under the law but under grace but the laws can still give us guidelines in how to live….not as a score card.

God does not want us to be people of rituals, laws, driven by guilt, or keeping a chart of either the rituals we perform or the things we do for HIM!! HE wants us to love him with all our hearts, obey HIM with all our hearts, and do the things HE places on our hearts in HIS strength. He desires that we be cheerful givers. Interestingly in this chapter we read about the priests not wearing clothing they can perspire in. WHAT did that have to do with anything? I read a commentary that was most interesting on this. The commentary said that God does not want his people perspiring to do works or rituals. Apparently the perspiration in this scripture is an indication we are working in our own strength rather than in God’s strength….that really touched me!! NO..it is not talking about perspiring because of doing something God wants you to do outside in the middle of summer. Have you ever been in a position where you had to force things to happen and once they happened you realized it still didn’t turn out right or work the way you thought it would? So are we really allowing God to lead our lives? What are we thinking we we approach The Lord of All, the God of the Universe? Are your prayers more self centered or are they filled with praise, worship, requests for God’s will, and how you may bless others. Are you a cheerful giver or do you do it to either get a desired result from God or do it grudgingly? Oh man….so much to think about right? However, God is truly concerned with our hearts…what is written on them….what we pray for…what we think about…the reason we do things?

Romans 12:1-2 tells us we are not to be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the Word (the Love, the Truth) of God…transformed more in HIS image each day. So how to we become more like HIM? We must know HIS character, HIS Holiness, HIS love, EVERYthing about HIM and the ONLY way to do that is to allow the Word to be written on our hearts so we can LIVE HIS way. Another telling way to know if you are living by God’s Word is by looking at the things we pray for…do we pray simply for things of this world ….or do we pray for God to reveal HIS will?? Since God is going into such GREAT detail AGAIN and AGAIN about how pure He desired the Temple to be, are we paying attention (to our Temple) to His Dwelling Place or are we allowing what we see, hear and do to defile it?

I know…a deep read…and some deep things to ponder with God…just you and God together…so HE can reveal more of HIMSELF to YOU.

Sharing HIS love,
