Today’s readings are very special.

Psalm 134 is written anonymously and is a Psalm of Ascent. During the pilgrimages to the Temple for the Feasts, the worshipers would sing these psalms or they were sung while climbing up the 15 steps of the Temple. Psalm 134 is the last of the ascent psalms. So as we sing it we are ABOUT to go into the Temple to worship. This is OH so special….. we are PREPARING OUR HEART TO WORSHIP THE LORD.

Psalms 146-150 end the book of Psalms teaching us to PRAISE HIM…over everything. In the NIV version I counted the term “Praise The Lord” or “sing to The Lord” just in these Psalms 37 times!!! HE wants us to KNOW how very important it is for us to PRAISE HIM and SING to HIM. These Psalms show us where, when, why, and how to praise The Lord. So why is it so important that we praise HIM?
It takes our focus off of ourselves, our problems, our circumstances, and puts it ALL on to HIM.
It leads us from individual meditation to corporation worship.
It causes us to consider and appreciate God’s character in each aspect of our lives.
It lifts our perspective from earthly things to the things of HIM….to the things that are eternal and lasting.
Here are a few of my favorite verses:

146: 6 “HE is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—HE remains faithful forever.

I LOVE knowing that HE remains faithful FOREVER!!!

147:4 — “HE calls EACH star by name.”

The stars are so special to HIM that HE named each one, yet HE tells us that we are EVEN more special than any of HIS other creations!!

147:11– “the Lord delights in those who fear HIM, who put their hope in HIS unfailing love.

149:5 — “Let HIS faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds.”

150:6 –“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” (THAT means YOU AND ME….OUT LOUD…TO HIM.)

I’d love to hear what verses touched you today.

Sharing HIS love,
