Psalm 102, 103, 104
Psalm 102: This psalm is written by an anonymous person. It is a prayer of someone in so much pain and turmoil that he/she forgets to do the ordinary things of life….like eat!! The author is in distress, possibly depressed, feeling lonely, in pain, and simply put… feeling very alone. And then we come to verse 12 –BUT YOU, O LORD SIT ENTHRONED FOREVER! He looks up…he places his eyes on the Most High God. The end of verse 12 through verses 17 here are some words that stood out to me…ENDURES…YOU WILL ARISE AND HAVE COMPASSION ON ZION….FAVOR…..NATIONS WILL FEAR THE NAME OF THE LORD…ALL THE KINGS OF EARTH WILL REVERE YOUR GLORY….REBUILD.”
Verse 27 are words of comfort for me personally—“BUT YOU REMAIN the same, and your years will never end. The children of your servants will live in your presence their descendants will be ESTABLISHED before YOU.”
This entire Psalm is a reminder that HE came to SAVE us, NOT condemn us!!!
Isn’t it amazing that these Psalmists refer to, speak of, describe the time when Jesus will come!! IMHO there is NO other way to explain this knowledge and writing except to say they were merely the writers of God’s inspired Word. There is NO way in their own human knowledge that they could have known…except by God.
Psalm 103: David wrote this Psalm and it tells us what God is REALLY like. If people ask you …. but what is God like…. refer them to Psalm 103… it tells us more than we can comprehend about our AWWESOME GOD!!! Look at some of the words David uses to describe God…”holy, forgives, heals, redeems, crowns you with love and compassion, satisfies your desires, renewal, just, righteous, compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love, removed our transgressions, everlasting to everlasting, keep his covenant, all his works…” And I am sure a few stood off the page for you as well… I’d LOVE to hear what they were.
Another statement that points us to Jesus are verses 10-12
“HE does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities…… as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
Psalm 104: The author of this psalm is anonymous. Does it sound familiar? This psalmist was writing about appreciating the works of God through the creation. We are rereading Genesis 1, with different words….words of deep thankfulness and gratitude. This makes me want to truly “Praise The Lord, O my soul!!” When I STOP and really think that OUR GOD created EVERYTHING by speaking everything into existence and breathing life into man/woman … I STILL get goose bumps!! Everything we have came/comes from HIM. It makes so much sense WHY HE desires for us to be good stewards of ALL we have…because it is all HIS anyway…but HOW do we handle all the gifts in our lives? Are we good stewards and do it for HIM, tithe to HIM, speak for HIM, sing for HIM…. well you get the point?
I can’t help but think of the scriptures that come to mind where people SPOKE, or ASKED God in their hearts for things… God WANTS us to speak HIS Word, ASK Him for direction, for our needs and wants (like Rachel prayed for a son as did Hannah)… and I am SURE you can find more…use http://www.biblegateway like a concordance and look up all the variations of speak, spoke, spoken, ask, asked, prayed for and see what you find. You will be blessed. AND I would LOVE to hear what touches you… on the blog or in an email.
Sharing HIS love,
